How to Care for Solid Wood and Acrylic Photo Frames
Photo frames are meant to be handled, moved, and lived with. A little care keeps the wood, acrylic, and image surface looking clean over time.
Dust gently and often
Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth for regular dusting. Avoid rough paper towels, abrasive cloths, or household scrub pads, especially on acrylic, because they can leave fine scratches.
Care for solid wood frames
Keep solid wood frames away from standing moisture, bathroom humidity, and direct heat sources. If the frame needs more than dusting, use a barely damp cloth and dry it right away. Do not soak the wood or spray cleaner directly onto the frame.
Care for acrylic frames
Acrylic should be cleaned with a soft cloth and light pressure. If needed, use a small amount of clean water on the cloth, then dry with another microfiber cloth. Avoid alcohol-heavy cleaners unless the product page specifically says they are safe for that frame.
Protect the photo inside
Keep framed photos out of harsh direct sun when possible. Sunlight can fade prints, paper, and some inks over time. For sentimental photos, make an extra copy and store the original separately.
Handle transparent and magnetic displays carefully
Floating and magnetic acrylic displays are made to show both the frame and the object inside. Open them on a clean, flat surface, remove dust before closing, and avoid trapping grit between the photo and the panel.
